Lauren Price is an unstoppable eight year old. She loves all manly sports and anything outdoors. She was diagnosed with bone cancer in September of 2013. She recently had part of her leg amputated, and then she was fitted with a prosthetic leg.
Here are two letters from Lauren’s mother. This family is AMAZING how they have come together. The community has shown tremendous love and support. In fact, when the Prices’ only car broke down, the community is donating a car and gas money. The Price family represents an amazing amount of strength, love, hope, and faith.
Every time I hear from you all, I am uplifted and always feel a sense of relief. It is just so wonderful to know that this company is praying for us and lifting us up. We are so very thankful. You have been a light in our challenges. You have relieved a GREAT DEAL of stress, financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Someone in the doctor’s office today made the comment that people are just so bad. I had to differ and say that there are many good people out there that have crossed our path since we have been on this journey. Someone that I have never personally met, but have gotten to know over Facebook, rented us a car for a week right after my car died so that we could get home from Gainesville and have a means of travel for a bit. This was before I borrowed a neighbor’s jeep. We had gone to dinner after a late night at the hospital a few weeks ago, and a couple whom we did not know paid for our dinner. When we asked for our check, she said it had been taken care of. My husband said the same thing happened to him and the girls the week before. Lauren and I were in Gainesville and someone had given us a gift card. My older daughter and myself are in desperate need of some dental work. The nurse called me last week as she knew that I had not come in because I did not have the money for the copays. She told me that our dentist said to please come in and get our teeth taken care of and that it would be no cost to us. They would write off what our insurance did not pay. God has put so many wonderful people in our lives. I do believe after all this is said and done, what a testimony we will have to share about how God really took care of us and never let us down, even when things seemed out of control.
Thank you for taking care of those bills this month and please let the others know how appreciative we are. This has been an incredibly tough month with Lauren having so much trouble with mucositis and with my car dying. I was praying last week about how tough things were and I just didn’t know how we were going to get by this month. He sent you guys back to us. We are still trying to figure out transportation as my car is beyond repair. It is not feasible to put the kind of money in it that it would take to replace the engine. So, I am driving a neighbor’s jeep and we are trying to figure out how to get another vehicle. I keep praying and I know that God will take care of this. It is often difficult to wait until it is his time to take care of things. He does not work on our timeline…….he has the plan! We would appreciate specific prayers regarding this quandary from you all also.
We would love to see Lauren on your page as you have been such an integral and incredible part of our lives through this journey.
God Bless you all,
Vicki Price and family
Absolutely you may post it to wherever you think it might be helpful. If it can give even one person a little hope, then it is well worth having you post it. Reliance Children’s Foundation continues to give me hope daily.
I have always felt, even back to my childhood, (so you know that was a long time ago (Lol)) that if I can make a difference in even a single person’s life, then whatever I did was well worth it, no matter how easy or tough it might have been. That was one of the reasons I became a teacher. So, with all that, feel free to post anything I have said, in any communication with you. I don’t know if you have been on Lauren’s Facebook page (Staying Tomboy Tough with Lauren), but there are lots of pictures on there and you are free to use any of them. Lauren and I will also look for a picture tomorrow to send you, but if you find anything on her page you may use it instead.
Thank you again for all you have done for our family. Your foundation has touched our hearts in a way that encourages us to keep fighting this battle head on and to get the most meaning possible that God is blessing us with. We look for the positive and celebrate and also look for the negative, for lack of a better word, so that we can learn and be in a position at the end of it to share the numerous blessings God has bestowed upon us in this incredible journey. God is good, ALL the time. We just have to “let go and let God” work his divine plan in his time. So hard sometimes, yet so very much worth it.
God bless you all,
One more prayer request….Lauren’s mouth is getting blisters in her mouth again and they are hurting her pretty badly. We are not scheduled to go back until Mon. April 21st….. the day after Easter. If the pain gets much worse, I will have to take her back to Shands for pain management. Thanks so much!!!
